From my shoot “Black Babydoll”, inspired by the Clark doll experiment. In the infamous babydoll test, they used dolls to evaluate children’s attitudes on race in the 40’s.They found that black children often preferred to play with white dolls over black dolls. They asked the children to fill in a human figure with the color of their own skin, and the children frequently chose a lighter shade than their actual complexion. The study also examined the connotations of the colors white and black and the children gave the color “white” attributes such as good and pretty, but “black” was qualified as bad and ugly. I would like to dedicate this one to my Chocolate Babydoll, my big sister <3
